Chimerism test

For the first time in Armenia, “Prom-Test” introduces the very important chimerism test in the field of diagnostics.

What is the importance of the chimerism test?

The chimerism test, after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation, plays a crucial role in several aspects:

  • Evaluating the efficiency of hematopoietic cell transplantation.

  • Early assessment of the risk of complications, such as detection of rejection or graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).

  • Predicting relapse after transplantation.

  • Monitoring long-term results.

What is the purpose of the chimerism test?

The goal is to detect and quantify specific genetic differences (polymorphic markers) in the bone marrow of the recipient, allowing the distinction between donor cells and the recipient’s cells.

What results can be expected from the chimerism test?

Chimerism testing increases patient safety and improves transplant outcomes by enabling timely personalized therapeutic interventions.

What method is used by “Prom-Test” to evaluate the chimerism test?

Our laboratory uses one of the most sensitive methods for chimerism assessment: the analysis of short tandem repeats (STR) followed by multiplex amplification and fragment analysis.
